Paisley Youth Arts Festival is a joint programme initiative led by a number of arts organisation in Paisley, Renfrewshire.
The project emerged as one of the key outcomes of the Paisley 2021 UK City of Culture Bid and its cultural consultations.
Young People were consulted on two occasions, in 2016 during the build-up to the UK CofC bidding process and again in February 2019.
In 2018 Outspoken Arts Scotland invited local partners to coalesce around a first year of self-generated programme, without funding support, and as an act of faith and goodwill towards young people and the local community.
The inaugural programme has over 50 activities, spread over two weeks with a potential to reach 5000+ attenders.
This is an exciting start for PYAF and we look forward to building on its success for 2020 and a new bigger, bolder festival with a forward-looking and inclusive agenda.
Thanks to all partners for their time and generosity of spirit.

“Well, you’d hope they were still together, wouldn’t you? They put it here in red pen, they scratched it onto a wall, that has to mean something, right?”
‘Whitey’, a one-act play, explores the process of entering adulthood, club culture and changing relationships; when we grow into different people, how do our relationships change, and do they sustain? Charly and Erin have been best friends since before they can remember, but forced to spend an uninterrupted night together trapped in a club toilet, they begin to see where their relationship has become irreparably frayed.’
